The Marie Claire works council have reached an agreement this Wednesday with the management of the lingerie company founded in 1907 in Vilafranca, Castellón. The agreement involves a minimum workforce of 72 people continuing to work at the Vilafranca factory and another 33 people in the rest of Spain -Castellón and Valencia mainly- for three more months, although in ERTE, with the possibility of agreeing on an additional three-month extension more months. After the meeting between the company and the workers' representatives, the assembly has "massively" supported the signed agreement.
This option is agreed within the bankruptcy that the company is going to present, according to union sources, in the middle of July. "Unfortunately, we only obtain compensation for 23 days over 13 months for the 190 people who are going to be fired from the company," the committee lamented this Wednesday in a statement released a few minutes ago.
In their evaluations, the committee explains that the unions will continue fighting to find alternatives to the Marie Claire factory, as well as an industrial plan for the Els Ports area. "We are going to continue demanding real answers from the new Administration to fight against the depopulation of inland areas," they assert from the workforce.
According to the same sources, after the agreement reached this morning, the company has committed to the negotiating committee to open the company's internal store to the public, after the numerous requests that have come from many places of workers from other sectors. who want to show their support and solidarity to the Marie Claire staff.
