Marco Asensio, an unsolved problem

Marco Asensio is still the Chinese in the shoes of the good times that Real Madrid is experiencing. At yesterday's UEFA gala in Istanbul and after receiving the award for best coach of last season, Carlo Ancelotti referred to the situation of the Balearic Islands and confirmed that he is looking for a way out: "Marco is looking at something to see if he can get out ”.

In previous press conferences, Ancelotti had already hinted that he was not very confident that Asensio would stay. Instead of openly defending his presence in the team, the Italian had declared: "Until August 31, if I have him here, he will be my player and if he doesn't leave, he will be one of the squad." A no-brainer.

The start of the season is showing that Asensio is already amortized and does not count for much in Ancelotti's plans. Not even Rodrygo Goes' session has allowed him to play too much, with Valverde installed at the midfielder on the right. He neither played nor warmed up in the first two official matches, against Eintracht in the European Super Cup and against Almería in his debut in the League. Against Celta, last Saturday, he only had seven minutes, with the match decided.

To date, Madrid have not received offers for Asensio. The feeling in the club is that the Balearic prefers to hurry up his last year of contract and from January to negotiate his future with a signing premium. But they also do not rule out that the player's agent, Jorge Mendes, present himself with an offer at any time. If this is the case, Madrid will not make any effort to retain its player, convinced that it is better to sell him now for a good amount than to see him leave for free next summer.

Asensio doesn't understand why he doesn't count for Ancelotti either. Last season he was the team's third scorer behind Benzema and Vinícius. It hurts him to play so little now precisely that he is on the verge of being called up for the World Cup in Qatar. He already missed the last European Championship.

At the club they believe that Asensio is a footballer with fragile morals, incapable of having continuity because he is not one of those who take responsibility for putting the team on his shoulders due to a lack of character. They think he's not the same since he tore ACL in a preseason game three summers ago. Signed to Mallorca in December 2014 for 3.7 million, he is one of the players most loved by the Bernabeu.
