The Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility area, headed by Borja Carabante, has decided not to carry out maintenance sweeping services after 2:00 p.m. or the rest of the services between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. red of the plan before the heat.
The measure, agreed upon last summer after the death of a 60-year-old cleaning worker due to heat stroke, will also keep all vehicles without air conditioning in the garages.
With respect to the fountains, the City Council has indicated that practically all of them are operational -2,010 out of 2,116- and has specified that the rest will soon be active as they are being repaired due to vandalism or closed for quality controls.
Last Friday, July 7, the plan of the Madrid City Council was activated due to inclement weather due to heat waves after the warnings launched by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), first at the yellow level and yesterday Sunday expanded to orange when more than 40 degrees for this Monday, when it has turned red (high risk).

That same Friday, July 7, communication mechanisms, both internal and external, were activated in order to reach as many people as possible with a series of advice and recommendations from experts in these exceptional cases of heat. The autonomous municipal body Madrid Salud launched the notice to all areas of the city council, so that they in turn communicate it to the different services.
Also that same Friday, an information campaign began from the main social media accounts and municipal channels (Madrid Salud, Madrid Emergencies, @Madrid, the municipal website itself), which has been reinforced since yesterday, Sunday, when an informative video of Samur was broadcast. -Civil Protection aimed at the media with service information for citizens with advice and recommendations in the face of the heat wave.
