Lleida against the MAT protests against the macroprojects that proliferate in Horta

The Lleida platform against the MAT has denounced this Tuesday the proliferation of "macro energy projects" that affect the Horta de Lleida, the agricultural area that surrounds the city and has announced a demonstration against these projects this Saturday in Lleida.

There are currently four high-voltage power lines planned related to photovoltaic projects that, if they go ahead, will cross this agricultural area and, in some cases, will even pass a few meters from some farmhouses.

The platform sees the construction of these lines as "nonsense" and demands that the existing electrical infrastructure be used. He has also announced that they are preparing a contentious administrative appeal against the Government for the Alcarràs solar project.

According to their data, this project foresees two of the four evacuation lines that will pass through Horta.

Of the four energy evacuation lines planned for Horta de Lleida, two are part of the Alcarràs solar park, in Segrià. These two lines are the ones that concern the platform the most at the moment since if the procedures continue, the installation of the electrical towers will begin this year, after the summer.

The spokesperson for Lleida against the MAT, Adrián Drago, has regretted that despite the appeals they have presented along the lines of the Alcarràs project, they have not obtained "any response" from the administrations, and has announced that they are preparing a contentious appeal. administrative against the Government

The main claim of the platform is that renewable energy projects are compatible and respectful with the agricultural activity of Horta de Lleida. For this reason, they consider that instead of building new electrical tower routes, it is necessary to take advantage of existing infrastructure.

Drago has compared it to the high-speed railway that passes through the area: "4 companies pass through the train viaduct and they have not built four different viaducts."
