Letizia approaches the first grammar

THE King gave a few months ago, in the Seville locality of Lebrija, the pistoletazo of the exit of the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the death of Antonio de Nebrija and this Wednesday it was the Queen who visited, at the National Library, in Madrid, the Nebrija exhibition (c. 1444-1522). The pride of being a grammarian ‘Grammaticus Nomen est Professionis, which traces the life and work of the Spanish humanist author of the first grammar of the Spanish language.

The exhibition is made up of more than a hundred pieces from the Library's internal collections, which are accompanied by other creations on loan from a dozen Spanish institutions, all selected by the curator Teresa Jiménez Calvente.

To visit the exhibition, the Queen has taken from her wardrobe a blue chiffon dress with a multicolored confetti print, by the firm Massimo Dutti, which she debuted in 2019. On Monday, the King and Queen will preside, in Cádiz, at the inauguration of the International Congress of the Spanish Language (CILE) that will be held at the Falla Theater, an emblematic stage where the carnival chirigotas perform and, that same day, they will attend the Carmen concert Linares, Marina Heredia and Arcángel will offer on the occasion of the meeting of linguists.

From the exhibition that the Queen visited this Wednesday in Madrid, another with the same name was born that can be seen in the castle of Santa Catalina, in Cádiz. It is one of the parallel activities to the celebration of CILE, among which concerts, exhibitions and the display, on the walls of the Central Market and in other buildings, of different words that make up the identity of the Cádiz language stand out.
