Juventus, Barça's rival for the female Gamper

One day after Xavi Hernández's Barça opened Montjuïc with a victory (4-2) over Tottenham at the Gamper, the club has announced the rival for the women's trophy. Jonatan Giráldez's men will face Juventus in what will be the third edition that the women's team will also play in the Gamper. The match will be played at the Johan Cruyff on Thursday, August 24, starting at 7:00 p.m.

It is not the first time that the Italian team visits Barcelona in summer. Juve was precisely the rival chosen by the blaugrana entity in the first edition of the women's Joan Gamper Trophy. Last year, the rival was the French Montpellier. In the two previous editions, the game has been played in this same stadium and has ended with a victory for the blaugrana.

Joe Montemurro's team has also faced Barça on two other occasions. It was in the round of 32 of the Champions League of the 2019-20 season. Even with capacity restrictions due to the pandemic, Johan's duel ended with a great win for Barça (6-0) with goals from Jenni Hermoso (2), Aitana, Paredes, Graham Hansen and Bruna Vilamala.

Barça started the preseason on August 1, without the internationals called up for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. As their teams are left out of the tournament, the players will have a well-deserved vacation before joining Jonatan Giráldez's orders.

Among the scheduled pre-season matches, the first will be next Saturday, August 12, although it will be a game behind closed doors against AEM at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. On the 19th they will receive Montpellier at the Johan (7pm) in the first friendly open to the public. After the Gamper, the team will head to its tour of Mexico, from August 26 to September 3. There they will face América and Tigres before returning to start the League on Sunday, September 10 (9:00 p.m.) at home against Valencia.

Fans who want to attend the Gamper, the first title at stake of the season, can now purchase tickets for the game on August 24. The seats are sold at the price of 11 and 18 euros, but there are additional discounts. Half price for members and for those who purchase them before Friday the 13th, and with a 25% discount for purchases of three or more locations. In addition, all Blaugrana fans who have purchased the 2023-24 season pack have free entry, as all the pre-season matches have been included in the package.
