Italian design based in London for the Alicante congress center

The design of the future Alicante congress center that has won among the 121 projects that passed the initial screening is the product of the work of three companies: the British Luca Poian Forms and the Spanish Frade Arquitectos and Prointec, a long-established engineering firm.

Luca Poian is a 47-year-old Italian architect living in London. He studied at the Technical University of Vienna and the Venice University of Architecture, where he graduated with honors in 2003. He began his career in the London studio of the prestigious Sir Norman Foster in London and Abu Dhabi, where he was the architect of two of the works most important cultural sites in the United Arab Emirates, the Zayed National Museum - on Saadiyat Island - and the Masdar University campus.

As for the Madrid studio Frade Arquitectos, founded in Madrid in 2005, it counts among its most famous works the National Archaeological Museum of Spain, the House of Architecture in Madrid and the new Museum of Islamic Arts in Fez, Morocco. Frade Arquitectos has received numerous awards for design excellence, including the National Prize for Heritage Renovation and Conservation by the Alhambra Museum.

Its founder, Juan Pablo Rodríguez Frade, born in 1957, studied architecture at the Higher Technical School of Architecture in Madrid. His rehabilitation and museography work at the National Archaeological Museum earned the COAM Award in 2014. In 2019 he was awarded the Distinguished Cross of the 1st Class of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort.
