Inter Milan were proclaimed Serie A champions tonight three years later after beating AC Milan in a closely contested Derby della Madonnina (1-2) that had never before decided a league title.

Simone Inzaghi's men took the lead thanks to Acerbi and in the early stages of the second half Marchus Thuram made it a comfortable 0-2. However, the local Fikayo Tomori, with a goal in the 80th minute, added excitement to the match, which ended with Dumfries, Theo Hernández and Calabria sent off in a very tense finale.

In this way, Inter sealed their twentieth Scudetto five days in advance while AC Milan remains second, with five points more than Juventus, third.

Furthermore, it is not just any league title for the Nerazzurri team. Being the twentieth, means that starting next season they will wear a second star on their shirt because, in Italy, for every ten leagues that a team achieves, it has the right to place a star on its shield. Curiously, only three teams have at least one embroidered star: Juventus, Milan and Inter themselves.

This league title is also special for Simone Inzaghi: he has won his first Italian league as a coach and is already the third coach in Inter's history with the most titles, with six, surpassing José Mourinho's five.
