IMPULSA: Women who undertake and lead their professional career

According to a study by The Boston Consulting Group and MassChallenge, startups led by women currently get half the investment of those led by men, despite generating twice the revenue. This research reveals that women entrepreneurs would be subject to more rejections than men during their presentations, so they are more likely to make more conservative proposals in their business plans.

Although the GEM Report (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor) Spain 2021-2022 indicates an increase compared to the previous year in women who start business, women remain ahead of men as recent entrepreneurs, increasing their percentage from 4.8% in 2020 At 5.6% in 2021, in consolidated companies men continue to be a higher percentage, the same as in the potential entrepreneurship phase.

That is why it is essential to encourage, promote and create female talent programs in which leadership and networking are the key. With this objective in mind, the Dona't un Impuls association, in collaboration with the TecnoCampus HUB4T and the Dones Reporteres association, have created the IMPULSA program, 100% subsidized by the Mataró City Council. This program has been the winning project of the Fem Mataró 2030 Awards, 2022 edition, in category 2: Initiatives to attract, generate and retain talent to build a city rich in diversity.

The Dona't un Impuls association is an association of businesswomen and entrepreneurs based in Mataró that currently brings together more than 80 women from all over Catalonia. "Our association was founded 9 years ago with the aim of promoting companies led by women and making businesswomen and entrepreneurs visible, thus contributing to the increase in female role models in society in general and in the economic field in particular," she explains. President Laura Inés Fernández.

The IMPULSA program deals with five thematic axes; from leadership to negotiation. “The project offers specific workshops, talks and workshops, as well as open networking where to narrow and strengthen the network of relationships”, explains Fernández. “As an additional differential aspect, the program has individualized mentoring for the participants in any of the five thematic axes that it covers, thus becoming a complete program, adjusted to the needs of the participating women,” she adds.

The IMPULSA program will keep its registration period open until March 26. "The women who complete the program can expect to learn to identify their competencies to achieve what they propose, and thanks to the focus of the workshop and the individualized mentoring, they will be able to leave with a complete and concrete action plan to execute immediately," explains Fernández .

“In addition, this year we have new challenges to tackle, new skills to develop, and in our hands also lies the responsibility of preparing ourselves to be able to take advantage of the opportunities and make ourselves visible,” adds Fernández. "For this reason, the IMPULSA program goes further, including not only training and mentoring, but networking events where other women are visible, as well as being seen," she concludes.

The IMPULSA program has been carried out with the collaboration of HUB4T, the center of postgraduate studies and permanent training of the TecnoCampus. “Our mission is to offer an innovative and empowering educational proposal to professionals, companies and organizations”, explains the person in charge of training solutions, Sandra Sánchez. “HUB4T has been promoted with the objective of becoming the reference permanent training center in the territory”, she comments.

"The IMPULSA program offers a space for reflection, cohesion, development and learning of skills and competencies for professional women and entrepreneurs with the aim of giving value to professional women in Mataró and increasing their professional value through the development of their talent", she explains. Sanchez. "HUB4T has been the entity that has collaborated with the Dona't un Impuls association in the design and development of the training program," she adds.

"I would recommend attending the program to those professional women, businesswomen or entrepreneurs who seek to identify their strengths and improve as leaders," says Sánchez. “We will offer you tools that will help you improve your leadership, your communication and your team management”, she says. "In addition, you will participate in a space where you will share experiences and generate good networking among all the attendees," she concludes.
