Iñaki Williams and other footballers who chose their roots

Iñaki Williams has made public through a video on social networks his decision to defend the Ghana shirt. The Athletic Club striker had not yet made his debut for Spain in an official match, he only played half an hour in a friendly in 2016 against Bosnia and Herzegovina (he did participate in the youth categories of La Roja, but that does not affect him when it comes to choose). In this way, he will have the chance to travel to Qatar to play the World Cup at the end of the year, to which Ghana qualified and where he will face Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in the group stage.

"Each step we take in life has a meaning, an evolution, a look to the future that in turn leaves a mark, a legacy," Williams reflects in the video, "I feel that the time has come to find my roots, with myself and with all that Africa and Ghana mean to me and my family. Discovering and embracing their origins is something that, like Iñaki, other footballers have decided to do throughout history. Here are some of them.
