Has the Pont del Remei disappeared? That is what we might ask ourselves when faced with images like this one in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia, captured at exactly 6:53 a.m., when the morning fog covers everything in Vic.
It must be borne in mind that the Osona region is the place in Spain with the most foggy days, around a hundred a year. The phenomenon, which at some times of the year can be accompanied by frost, can last days and even weeks if the conditions are favourable.
In some areas, the popular "Pubilla de la Plana de Vic" is also known as "baixa joke". Basically, it's when a sea of fog comes down and covers everything.
The Pont del Remei is a bridge over the River Mèder. It is a work included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia.
It shows five arches, although it initially had seven, it is all made of stone and it was built after James I authorized the diversion of the old road from Vic to Barcelona in 1274. It was built from 1325.
