His family stated that a grandfather who was visiting his family was one of the six victims of Monday's shooting attack at a Fourth of July parade near Chicago.
Nicolas Toledo's family told CBS Chicago that he was among those killed in the shooting at Highland Park. Toledo, a Mexican national, had been in the area visiting his family for the past month.
Kimberly Rangel (Tillot's granddaughter) said that her grandfather, who was in his late seventies, loved to fish, paint and take walks in the park with his family.
She claimed that her mother had called her in tears to inform her of Toledo's death.

Rangel stated, "We all feel pretty numb." Rangel said, "We are all pretty broken inside."
According to the family, Toledo also had a relationship with his great-granddaughter and was now beginning to forge a close bond.
Rangel stated, "I would like to say that I would like to keep your family close while you can, while they still have you." Like I said, we didn't anticipate this would happen so close to our home. It's not only my family that is affected. This affects so many families, I hope you all hold your family close tonight."
Others from Toledo's family were also injured in the shooting but are expected to recover.
The family posted on a GoFundMe page that Toledo, a father to eight children, had "left us this morning, July 4th. What was supposed to have been a fun family holiday turned into a terrible nightmare for all of us."
Another granddaughter, Xochil, said to the Chicago Sun-Times her father tried protecting her grandfather and was shot in her arm. Her boyfriend was also shot in her back.
He saved our lives. She said that it would have gone to her, my boyfriend, or my cousins.
