The Mossos d'Esquadra have recovered this Sunday a corpse of a man next to a sunken car in the Ebro river between the towns of Miravet and Ginestar (Tarragona), looking for a small river ferry, a case that the police are investigating as an accident .
Sources from the Mossos d'Esquadra have indicated that, pending the results of the autopsy to find out the cause of death, the ongoing investigation points to an accidental death, while the police work to clarify how the vehicle plunged into the river.
The event occurred in the vicinity of a boat crossing, which transports vehicles from one side of the river to the other and which connects the C-12 highway with the TV-3023, although the event is not necessarily linked to this service.
The emergency services received a notice at 11 in the morning from a citizen who had seen a car submerged in water.
12 Fire Departments have been sent to the scene, including members of the Special Underwater Actions Group (GRAEsub), while the Mossos have also gone with the aquatic unit.
The divers have managed to recover the body, which was in the water but outside the submerged car, with which the Mossos work with the hypothesis of an accidental death.
Police sources have explained to Europa Press that everything points to an accidental death, although the investigation is still open, and that the vehicle cannot be removed until Monday.
