Feijóo signs Rivera de la Cruz as number 2 of the PP to the Congress of Deputies

Marta Rivera de la Cruz (Lugo, 1970) will be number 2 in the Popular Party's candidacy for the Congress of Deputies, accompanying Alberto Núñez Feijóo on the Madrid list.

The writer -finalist for the 2006 Planeta Prize- attended the 2019 regional elections under the acronym of Ciudadanos and was part of the coalition government that populares and oranges signed with Isabel Díaz Ayuso as president and Ignacio Aguado as vice president holding the portfolio of Culture, Tourism and Sport.

Two years later, when the Madrid leader broke the coalition by calling an electoral advance, Rivera de la Cruz resigned from Ciudadanos so that, once the 4-M 2021 elections were held, he returned to the Post Office. Although, contrary to Toni Cantó, the Galician refused to do so through an express jacket change and was consolidated as an external signing. A wink from Ayuso to the Cs voters within the process of widening their electorate towards the center.

And again, two years later, Rivera de la Cruz went from the Madrid regional lists to the municipal lists of the capital last May by joining the lists of José Luis Martínez-Almeida for the capital where he played in all the pools as the next Councilor for Culture and Tourism to replace Andrea Levy.

Independent, and in her day a national deputy for Citizens, Rivera de la Cruz reinforces Feijóo's commitment to Culture in a list that will also include profiles linked to the sector, such as Borja Sémper and Jaime de los Santos.

Despite the uncomfortable differences between the PP and the Cs that made the first coalition government of the Community of Madrid difficult, Isabel Díaz Ayuso always showed great harmony with Marta Rivera de la Cruz of whom, once the unexpected 2021 elections were called, she pointed out : ''I have had exceptional Citizen advisors, like Marta Rivera de la Cruz. If I have the possibility of her I will count on her again.

The Madrid president has repeatedly praised Rivera's management during the pandemic as having been "an example in the rest of Europe for having kept theaters and cinemas open despite the fact that the left asked that they close everything."
