Feijóo denounces the "populist drift" of Sánchez's "democratic degeneration" plan

The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, gathered this Tuesday the parliamentary groups of his party in the Congress and the Senate in the Constitutional room of the Lower House to explain to his people what the opposition's strategy will be in response to the decision of Pedro Sánchez to continue leading the Government and undertake a "democratic regeneration" of Spain.

Far from buying the framework established by Sánchez in his appearance yesterday, which for the PP is nothing more than the "movie script twist" of a "performance" in which the president has made himself "ridiculous", Feijóo considers that the leader of the PSOE has entered into a "populist drift" that must be fought from all fronts, also with street demonstrations.

In its ideological counteroffensive to tear down "the wall" that Sánchez spoke of at his inauguration and behind which, according to Feijóo, the president now seeks to "hide and perpetuate himself," even at the cost of "splitting the country in two," the PP proposes shield free journalism, prohibit lawfare accusations, guarantee the rights of the opposition, strengthen controls against corruption and improve the conditions of transparency in the family environment to prevent any conflict of interest.

Feijóo accuses Sánchez of narcissism and of only accepting the criteria of judges and journalists when they agree with him, an attitude that, in his opinion, deserves an "unequivocal ethical condemnation" and in the face of which the PP will not stand idly by: " If he finds himself with more strength to continue, we will defend equality, freedom and truth more than ever," he exclaimed.

Flanked by the general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, and the spokespersons in Congress, Miguel Tellado, and the Senate, Alicia García, the popular leader has encouraged his people to fight against the "economic and constitutional corruption" of the PSOE , deactivating from the opposition the threat of "democratic degeneration" that, in his opinion, Sánchez has raised.

To do this, the PP will first request the president's appearance in Congress, and if the majority of the investiture "protects" him, then he will be called to the Senate, where the popular party has an absolute majority and Sánchez "will have to show his face." to answer the questions asked. But if even then the president does not offer the explanations that Feijóo demands of him, the investigation commission on the Koldo case of the Upper House will request all the information that is considered necessary.

Likewise, the president of the PP has warned that his party will not remain "impassive" in the face of the "partisan use" of State institutions and, in this sense, he has referred to the fact that RTVE, from his point of view, has become a "propaganda organ" of the Government, since it is chaired by an "unapologetic socialist militant", in the same way that the CIS, he has stressed, has put itself "at the service of its master". And for this reason, Feijóo has announced, the PP will go to court to file a complaint against this "intolerable manipulation."

In addition, the opposition will also appeal to community institutions against the "attack" on the rule of law of which Sánchez is accused. Feijóo has congratulated himself, in this sense, on the response obtained from Manfred Weber, leader of the EPP, and Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, both belonging to the popular European family, who have shared his "concern" because of what is happening in Spain and they could act, he predicted, in the same way as in Poland when the executive branch tried to control the judiciary.

And precisely in Europe, jumping over Catalonia, where the electoral prospects of the PP, while good, are far from those of the PSC, which all the polls show as the winner, Feijóo estimates the defeat of Sánchez's project at the polls: " We have a lot at stake," the popular leader has warned his people, and has called on them to "raise awareness" among Spaniards that we must "unite the vote around the only possible alternative" against Sánchez, whose strategy is to "add everything on one side and divide on the other to try to do what happened on 23-J."
