The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested a 31-year-old man last Friday in Barcelona, accused of the murder of a 38-year-old woman, Choumicha, with whom he had a sporadic romantic relationship. The owner of the apartment in which the victim had rented a room for more than a year, found the woman's body on December 29 after not hearing anything from her for two days. Montserrat went into the tenant's room to ventilate because she had a strange smell and discovered among a mountain of clothes on the bed that one of the victim's feet was sticking out. From here, the health and police emergency services were mobilized and the Barcelona Mossos d'Esquadra homicide group began the investigation.
Investigators had the identity of the alleged perpetrator from the first moment. After separating, the victim, who did private security work for a company, had a sporadic relationship with a man from the neighborhood who was often seen on the terraces of the bars near the woman's home. In fact, on December 25, they both had breakfast at the house with the owner of the apartment.
In fact, the woman telephoned the individual when the fatal discovery occurred. The man was surprised by the news and assured that he was unaware that it had happened because he had been in France for days celebrating Christmas with relatives.
This Monday, the owner of the home was still unable to return because the room where the crime occurred was still sealed by court order and she could not clean it.
With this new fatality, there would be 15 women murdered at the hands of their partners or ex-partners in Catalonia alone during the year 2023. If the sexist nature is confirmed, a total of 56 women would have been murdered throughout Spain.
