Espanyol dismisses Ramis and appoints Manolo González, coach of the reserve team

The adventure of Luis Miguel Ramis (53) on the Espanyol bench has lasted just over four months. The team's poor sporting dynamics have pushed the club chaired by Chen Yansheng to announce this Tuesday the dismissal of the Tarragona coach. Minutes after the announcement, it was confirmed that it will be Manolo González (Lugo, 1979), until now the reserve team coach, who will take charge of the team until the end of the season.

In the first official statement made public this afternoon by the blue and white entity, "the dynamics of the first team in the last days of competition" are used as the main reason for the dismissal, always with promotion to the First Division "as the only and clear objective" .

Ramis leaves Espanyol in third position in the Hypermotion League with 49 points, one away from the direct promotion that Elche currently marks and four from the leadership of the category, held by Leganés.

The Tarragona coach took over the reins of the blue and white team on November 6 after the dismissal of Luis García, whom he has failed to improve, and since then he has directed 18 games from the bench.

Ramis's balance in these little more than four months has not been convincing either in game or in results. In the 16 Hypermotion League games that he has sat on the bench, Espanyol has barely won 6, earning 7 draws and 3 losses. In the Copa del Rey, they beat Valladolid in a good match and were then eliminated against Getafe in Cornellà.

For history, yes, there will be the comeback achieved in Eibar on February 24, which ended up being their only victory away from Cornellà. Two goals in the 97th and 99th minutes respectively gave Espanyol the three points in Ipurúa (2-3) in a match for the legend.

Ramis' replacement will be Manolo González, until now the reserve team's coach, who is promoted to the first team until the end of the season and will be officially presented this Wednesday. Luis Blanco will be his assistant.
