The Equestrian Circle has a new president. The until now first vice president of the entity, Enrique Lacalle, was elected yesterday as the new president of this private club in Barcelona, ​​inaugurated in 1856 and which over the years "has become an institution that has brought together personalities from the circles influential business, professional and institutional organizations.

According to the entity, Lacalle, "a renowned businessman with a long professional career and a strong vocation for service", will succeed Antonio Delgado in office after having received wide support and recognition among the members of the Circle. He assumed the first vice presidency in 2019.

Following the appointment of Enrique Lacalle, the new board of the Círculo Ecuestre will be made up of four vice presidents: Juan Ignacio Marull, vice president of the Economics area; Antonio Gámiz, vice president of the Social area; Luis Conde, vice president of the Institutional area; and Eva Moll, vice president of the Culture area.

The Board, "which doubles the number of women compared to the previous government, going from three to six", will also have a secretary, a vice-secretary, a treasurer and 23 members. For its part, the general management will continue under the figure of David Galán.

After learning of his appointment, Enrique Lacalle remarked that "it is an honor and a privilege to preside over a century-old institution, so deeply rooted in the economic, political and cultural fabric of Barcelona, ​​Catalonia and Spain as a whole." "The objective we set for ourselves is to ensure that “The Círculo Ecuestre continues to be the reference club and positions itself as a meeting and debate point for civil society at the service of Barcelona,” he continued.

The Círculo Ecuestre points out in its statement that Enrique Lacalle has designed a roadmap marked by six main lines of action: reinforcing networking activities; increase the presence of women and young people in government bodies; create a new Business Advisory Council; increase the presence and influence of the club at the state level; consolidate the entity as a dynamic element of the culture and art of Barcelona; and improve the club's facilities to modernize them and make them more comfortable and accessible to members.

Enrique Lacalle is a member of the Advisory Board of the Godó Group, member of the Board of Catalonia Hotels, advisor to the Presidency of Foment and president of the International Automobile Show – Automobile Barcelona. He has also been a councilor in the Barcelona City Council and a deputy in Congress.

The Equestrian Circle, highlights the entity, "has always been a meeting point for civil society" and currently has 2,266 members, of which 319 are under 40 years old.
