El Ressons Penedès by Cruïlla combines the music of Amaia and Els Catarres with vineyards and wineries

Combining music with the vineyards of Penedès to expand the echoes of the Cruïlla Festival throughout Catalonia, this is the proposal that the Barcelona-based matric contest puts on the table this year at the Ressons Penedès by Cruïlla festival. A bet for the territory that involves the presence of 36 artists in twenty wineries and heritage spaces of the Alt Penedès region, in a festival that combines music and wine tourism.

Among the participants in the Ressons, which will be held on April 28, 29 and 30, coinciding with the May Day long weekend, there are names such as Amaia, Iván Ferreiro, Els Catarres, Joan Dausà, Soleá Morente, 31Fam, La Fúmiga , Els Pets, Las Migas or Judit Nedderann among others. These artists will give shape to 33 concerts with capacities of between 300 and 3,000 people that include proposals for children. Tickets can already be purchased with prices ranging from 15 to 25 euros.

Among the biggest stages that will host the performances are the Elissya by Freixenet caves, where Els Catarres, Joan Dausà, and Amaia will perform. Ivan Ferreiro, Els Pets, 31FAm and La Fúmiga will perform in the Vallformosa caves. For his part, Pol Batlle

The idea of decentralizing the festival arose when visiting the region, according to the director of Cruïlla, Jordi Herreruela, and verifying that the territory did not ask for a large space to hold all the events, but rather "receive people at home, show them their product and its heritage, which is enormous”. From there was born the project of "attracting thousands of people not to a festival, but to the entire region", as Herreruela explained during the presentation of Ressons, this morning at the Palau Robert in Barcelona. The festival is sponsored by the Ministry of Business whose head, Roger Torrent, has highlighted the role played by Ressons within the strategy to transform the tourism model and promote the area, famous for its wine culture, "with the will to publicize their heritage and project it into the future with success”.

The Ressons Penedès continues the mix of good music and good wine that has given rise to Cruïlla DO Terra Alta, which will celebrate its first edition on the next days 22 and 23, in what is the first adventure of the Festival beyond the metropolitan limits. This festival, which will be held in Batea, will bring to the banks of the Ebro numbers such as Amics de les Arts, M-Clan, Damaris Gelabert and the Valencians La Fúmiga. Miqui Puig will be in charge of playing music in the Village.

Cruïlla's commitment to extend its operations center in the Parc del Fòrum arose during the confinement, due to the impossibility of organizing large festivals as it was not possible to guarantee the sanitary safety distance. This handicap gave rise to Cruïlla XXS, which in its first edition attracted more than 35,000 spectators for nearly 200 shows of music, theatre, dance, cabaret, circus, humor and reflection in various parts of Barcelona's geography. In the last edition, no longer limited by the pandemic that caused it, Cruïlla XXS offered around twenty shows that included artists such as Wilco, Leiva, Mishima, Love od Lesbian, David Otero or Delafé y las Flores Azules.

Cruïlla closed its last edition with a total of 72,000 spectators in four days, figures similar to the pre-pandemic editions. Artists such as Jack White, Duran Duran, Rubén Blades, Editors and Residente, among others, passed through the Fòrum. This year the festival will be held from July 5 to 8, and has already confirmed names such as Placebo, Sigur Rós and Franz Ferdinand as well as Tash Sultana, Leiva, Antonia Font, Sidonie, Amaia or Viva Suecia among others.
