Do we want Tesla in Valencia?

Do we really want Tesla to come to the Valencian Community? Question that I ask from the assumption that the sources of the Generalitat Valenciana have "leaked" the "truth" according to which they have been and are negotiating with Elon Musk's company for a year to install a factory in this autonomy of electric cars and batteries. Let's validate the information disclosed and return to the question: do we really want Tesla to come to Valencia? Because if that is the case, it would be desirable for the economic teams of Ximo Puig and Carlos Mazón to share information and contacts as soon as possible to continue working on an objective for which two powers, France and Italy, led by Emmanuel Macron and Giorgia Meloni, are competing. That they speed up the transition of institutional powers for an objective that could consolidate the Valencian Community as the most important electric automotive area in southern Europe, with the creation of thousands of jobs. That is, for a good that is above parties and institutions. It would be desirable.

Bringing back the Tesla factory should not be considered impossible. The victory of installing the PowerCo gigafactory, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, in Sagunt was not; with the excellent work carried out by the team led by Ximo Puig. No one will ever be able to deny the acting president a success that he achieved overcoming many enormous difficulties; among these, that the Spanish Government preferred to install it in Extremadura. The gigafactory, which will start operating in 2026, is the largest industrial investment, exceeding 3,000 million euros, to be carried out in Spain in the coming years. This, together with the electrification of the Ford plant in Almussafes, which is what will guarantee its permanence, will allow reindustrialization to be accelerated in the Valencian Community. Also getting Tesla to settle would result in the conversation of this piece of the Mediterranean in the most competitive geography in the automotive sector.

To the initial question, a second should be added: Does the Spanish Government want Tesla to come to Valencia? Because without the passionate collaboration of the Ministry of Industry and Pedro Sánchez himself, the Valencian effort will be useless. And it does not seem that in the middle of an electoral campaign, that of 23J, it is an opportune moment for the Government's resources to be made available to support the Valencian option compared to the work that Meloni and Macron are already developing. For this reason, and because of what has already happened in the past, the two political leaders of the main Valencian parties, Ximo Puig and Carlos Mazón, should, on this issue, collaborate in this transition process so that, if there is even the slightest chance that Tesla choose Valencia, win the battle. His desire, which we assume to be real, and his complicity, would be the best pressure for the Spanish Government to attract the attention of Elon Musk and put pressure on this game against Italy and France. It would be very serious if the lack of regional and local political complicity in this matter were a determining factor in a hypothetical failure.
