Dismantled a criminal group in L'Hospitalet that bought stolen mobile phones throughout Spain

The Mossos d'Esquadra dismantled this Tuesday a criminal group dedicated exclusively to the purchase of stolen mobile phones and arrested seven people in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

Investigators recovered 195 stolen mobile phones in various locations in Spain4 and seized 47,000 euros in cash. The investigation began when the agents identified a group of people who had made continuous reception of mobile phones their way of life.

The group was dedicated exclusively to receiving mobile phones and had different points of purchase in L'Hospitalet.

Each reception point was run by a single person in charge who attended to the sellers of stolen material. Subsequently, this material was transferred to a safe point, also located in the municipality, where it was stored.

In the early hours of June 27, the investigators made seven entries and searched six homes and a booth, under the supervision of the investigating court number 1 of Hospitalet de Llobregat. 117 agents from various investigative units, the Regional Administrative Police Unit and the Regional Area of ​​Operational Resources participated. The Canine Unit and drones also participated.

The vast majority of the recovered phones were packed in aluminum foil, labeled with the purchase price and inside a handmade soundproof trunk. Subsequently, the investigators managed to find out that these terminals had been stolen at different points throughout the state.

They also located written documentation listing the purchase prices of the devices, evidencing the volume of money generated by the organization.
