Death or not of romantic love, that is the question, by 'The Feliuettes'

Love, probably the most universal theme of all. How is it shown in these new times? Why is the love of a couple central and the other secondary? These are some of the questions asked by the theater company The Feliuettes, made up of Laia Alsina, María Cirici and Laura Pau, who are presenting their fourth show Amor a mort, "a reflection on love, in the broadest sense".

From romantic love to sorority, love as opium for women, emotional dependence or fear of being alone, friendship, liquid love, hierarchies of love or polyamory, and other issues that are addressed in this new theatrical proposal. directed by the playwright Eu Manzanares.

"We have asked ourselves many questions with this work about love, we do not seek to give answers, but rather to represent situations that we have experienced and surely the public too" Manzanares has advanced. In a comedy key, the best way for the Feliuettes "to change consciousness and dismantle arguments", they present the different plots and problems, which are the theses resulting from long conversations between all the people who have participated in the creation of the piece and that will be seen in the different characters that will go through a cabaret of reflections.

With the three actresses that make up the company as performers, accompanied by the musician Modesto Lai on piano, in this musical that combines recited text with parts, sung, surreal elements and hooligans with a choreography of movements that give identity to each of the characters. into which Alsina, Cirici and Pau will gradually become. From a girl, to a grandmother, a classic muse of love or a ghost.

It is a piece with a funny appearance, which seeks to "question what is socially established, all the ideas that romantic love has left us since childhood, with Disney movies or simply with the patriarchal role structure, the work contains a feminist perspective, that will be developed throughout the work and with which we intend to dismantle myths and question the viewer, regardless of their age and gender” explain the three performers.

The Feliuettes was born in 2015 as a musical show dedicated to the actress Núria Feliu, hence its name, which would later also become the name of the company made up of these three inseparable Catalan actresses. Amor a mort opens next Tuesday, August 22 and will be at the Teatro Maldà until September 24.
