Daniel Sirera, face to face with the neighbors of the Eixample

The candidate of the Popular Party (PP), Daniel Sirera, vindicates the legacy of Ildefons Cerdà in the face of the tactical urbanism proposals promoted by the current municipal government. Sirera made these statements during the third meeting between mayors and residents organized by La Vanguardia, held on this occasion at the Mercat del Ninot, in the heart of Eixample. The video report resulting from these meetings can be seen on these lines.

The popular candidate remarked that "the Cerdà plan must be recovered" in order to benefit commerce and restaurants, which according to him "have seen their capacity for growth very limited" due to the difficulty of accessing or parking in some areas of the city. This has affected the arrival of customers and complicated loading and unloading tasks, says Sirera.

In a setting like the Mercat del Ninot it is impossible not to talk precisely about the markets. To encourage activity in these spaces, the candidate intends to lower taxes on businesses, promote tasting in the markets "to publicize the product" and encourage people "not only to buy but to experience the markets" .

Housing was also an issue of particular concern. Sirera considers that the prices are very high due to the “little supply”. To solve it, he proposes freeing up municipal land in areas such as the Zona Franca and La Sagrera to build more homes for the most needy people.

Finally, another problem that many citizens highlight is dirt, a "priority" issue for Sirera. The mayor sees it necessary to "modify the cleaning contract" to have more staff and reinstall hundreds of bins that have been removed.
