Daniel Sirera defines Barcelona as an "anti-system paradise"

The Popular Party candidate for mayor of Barcelona, Daniel Sirera, has denounced the passivity of the mayor, Ada Colau, in the face of the squatter movement in the city, stating that "having a mayor who was a squatter and who defends the squatters has made Barcelona in an anti-system paradise”. Sirera made these statements after visiting the Sant Gervasi-La Bonanova neighborhood and the surroundings of the illegally occupied houses "El Kubo" and "La Ruïna", where the squatters celebrated that they would not be evicted as planned.

Sirera recalled that the transfers of the Barcelona City Council with the squatter movement go back a long way, since in 2014, according to Sirera, "Trias lacked firmness to evict Can Vies and nine years later they are still there because today, with Ada Colau, everything remains the same or worse.” In this way, the popular candidate has admitted in these cases that there is a very worrying lack of firmness on the part of the municipal government.

The popular candidate was also outraged at the flexibility and rights exercised by these people: "it is allowed and tolerated that people who break the law and who illegally squat homes have more rights than citizens who comply with the law." In this sense, the popular candidate calls on Ada Colau and Jaume Collboni, leader of the party that also governs Barcelona, to act immediately to restore legality in the city.

Sirera was also very concerned about the passivity of the City Council in the face of the theft of municipal billboards that the squatters have used around the perimeter of the estate without the Urban Police and the Mossos d'Esquadra acting. According to the popular, it cannot be tolerated that the squatters are the ones in charge in Barcelona and decide what the police have to do.

Finally, the popular mayor wanted to send a message of hope to the people of Barcelona and firmness to the squatters and warned that his party intends to reform some laws to kick out the squatters in less than 24 hours and, in turn, has declared that "Policies will be enforced at City Hall that will make it very clear to all criminals that they are not welcome in this city."
