Daniel Sancho's family releases a statement

There is no talk of anything else in the media of our country. Daniel Sancho, son of the famous Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, has entered a prison in Thailand accused of murdering Edwin Arrieta, a prestigious Colombian surgeon.

Last Saturday, after reporting his friend's disappearance to the authorities and being questioned about various evidence that incriminated him (marks and scratches on his skin, recordings from various security cameras, etc.), the 29-year-old chef confessed to be the culprit of the murder and dismemberment of the corpse on the Thai island of Koh Phangan.

However, Sancho justified himself by saying that Edwin had him "prisoner" in a glass cage and that he was threatening to destroy his life: "I am guilty, but I was Edwin's hostage. It was a glass cage, but it was a cage. He made me destroy the relationship with my girlfriend, he has forced me to do things that he would never have done.

Last Monday, after many days of confusion and uncertainty, the first investigation into Daniel Sancho's crime ended and the judge decided to order his admission to the Koh Samui prison. Although the authorities are working on the case and the investigation is ongoing, the accused's family has surprised society by releasing a brief public statement. The director of the law firm that represents the son of actor Rodolfo Sancho, Fernando Oca, has been in charge of sending said text to the Efe agency.

The relatives of Daniel Sancho have declared "they are very sorry for Edwin's death" and "send their feelings to his family." They have also stressed that they want to remain silent and that they hope that the media will respect their decision in these difficult times for everyone.

"We appreciate the interest of the press, but we cannot make statements at this time so as not to interfere in the investigation and to respect the very painful moment that both families are experiencing in this terrible situation that we have had to live," they explained in the text.

This Thursday, the family has changed its mind and has officially communicated through its legal representatives after having spoken to the press separately. A few days ago, the artist Rodolfo Sancho gave his first and last public statements and asked that "rash judgments" not be made that could interfere with the investigation at this "delicate and extremely confusing" moment.

For his part, Rodrigo Sancho, uncle of the chef accused of murder, spoke on several occasions with journalists who were following him in search of statements and expressed that they were having a very bad time: "It is very painful. You know more than we do. I only ask for a little respect. We're not going to tell you more''.
