Cherry blossoms come a month earlier

The flowering of cherry trees does not occur every year on a fixed date, but can vary depending on weather conditions. The normal thing is that it occurs between March 15 and April 10 approximately. It usually lasts about 10 days. This year, therefore, it was a month advanced with this very spring-like winter.

Cherry trees, along with almond, peach, plum and apricot trees, are a species that is part of the genus Prunus.

Members of this genus are distinguished by their flowering, which arises in small clusters of flowers, and by the softness of their fruit, which is characterized by having a single, shallow indentation on one side.

Compared to other fruit trees, its harvest period is very short, being from late spring to early summer.

In this case we can see how the cherry trees have begun to bloom at 1,246 meters above sea level, around the Bellmunt sanctuary, in Sant Pere de Torelló, in the Osona region, where splendid views can also be enjoyed, especially at dawn. .
