The sole disciplinary judge of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has sanctioned Rayo Majahonda goalkeeper, Cheikh Sarr, with two matches for confronting a fan who was shouting racist insults at him during the match against Sestao River. The referee of the match, García Riesgo, expelled the Senegalese for jumping into the stands to reproach the fan for his attitude and finally grabbing him by the scarf.
"If they sanction me I will be very surprised. It would be unfair because I am the victim. What is happening bothers me a lot. You are the victim and you are the one who has to go out and apologize to the world of football, but I do it for the image of football , because it is the right thing to do and you have to be respectful," said Sarr at a press conference on Tuesday, who has also received a fine of €600 and his club €90, in application of article 129 of the RFEF Disciplinary Code. .
After returning to the field, Cheikh Sarr had a tense dialogue with the referee, who considered, according to the minutes, that he approached him with the intention of attacking him. "I just wanted to talk to him, ask him for explanations for the expulsion," the goalkeeper explained to the media.
The First RFEF match, which was 2-1 in favor of the locals, was suspended in the 84th minute due to the racist incident after the Rayo Majadahonda players left the field. Sestao River has also been sanctioned to play the next two home games behind closed doors and to pay a fine amounting to 6,001 euros.
