Catalonia, on alert again due to intense rains in the midst of drought

This Monday, the Generalitat has again activated the alert for the Inuncat flood plan, which was already in force over the weekend, due to the intensity of the rain on the coast and pre-coast of Barcelona and Tarragona, where, in the midst of a drought, 100 can accumulate. liters per square meter in 24 hours. As reported by Civil Protection of the Generalitat, the Meteorological Service predicts that until early tomorrow morning the rainfall may be intense and exceed 100 liters per square meter in 24 hours.

Specifically, the regions where a greater accumulation of rain may be recorded in the next few hours are Tarragonès, Baix Penedès, Garraf and Baix Llobregat, which is why Civil Protection asks to follow the weather forecasts and avoid approaching them, both on foot and by car, to flood-prone areas and limit mobility as much as possible.

An episode of rain intensity is also expected for tomorrow, exceeding 20 millimeters in half an hour, with showers that could be accompanied by hail, in this case in the eastern Pyrenees and pre-Pyrenees.

Yesterday, Civil Protection deactivated the alert of the Inuncat plan, in force since Friday due to an episode of intense rains this weekend throughout Catalonia, which have left the swamps of the internal basins at 18.13% of their total capacity.
