Carla Campra, the success of the girl who played at being a real actress

Step by step, this actress born in Barcelona and living in Madrid (the family moved due to her children's early careers) has shown (and has convinced herself) that her thing goes beyond a childhood hobby. Surprisingly young for the resume he presents, he made his film debut at the age of seven (Atlas of Human Geography) and has not stopped adding titles: Iván's Dream, Verónica, Todos lo saber, The Other Look, The Girl of the Communion, 90-60-90, Secret diary of a teenager... and the series that gave her her first leading role: Fair: the darkest light. She is about to release Red Wine (Amazon Prime) and in a few days the second season of the “frantic” (she defines) Sagrada Familia will arrive on Netflix.

Compulsive reader, fond of crafts and the music of Vetusta Morla, who "expresses exactly what I feel and I am not able to explain", attends Magazine on her free day from filming the series Internal Affairs (TVE), where she assumes a “super complicated” character.

At 24 years old, he has already been in his career for 11 years…

That's how it is. I started in advertising; I went to a casting with my brother Guillermo and they took us both. Then we move on to fiction. I have always been very responsible at work, but until recently it seemed like a game to me.

He paved the way for her in the profession they share. Is there rivalry today?

There never has been, quite the opposite. We always support each other. We are brothers above anything.

There are other brothers in the profession, Mario and Óscar Casas, Ángela and Álvaro Cervantes. Ye are friends?

Well, we are companions.

'Fair: The Darkest Light' is “a before and after” in his career. Because?

He was my first protagonist, a role with a lot of depth that forced me to settle in Barcelona for a few months. It was like living another life. Before, my work seemed more fun to me. Here I realized the importance of carrying a character's story from beginning to end. It forced me to go very deep. And I saw that this is what I want to do.

A new installment of 'Sagrada Familia' arrives, with its character Aitana and its powerful cast. Who have you had the most feeling with?

With Iván (Pellicer), my brother. I love him a lot, working together is super nice. We have supported each other a lot. I love you all. Najwa is an incredible colleague, a very intelligent woman and a hard worker; She has helped me a lot.

What type of career do you aspire to?

Having a career seems more than enough to me. I would like to one day look back and see how much I have learned from my characters. And having read all the books in the universe!

What readings do you prefer?

Of everything. I really liked Man's Search for Meaning. Now I'm with The Myth of Beauty by Naomi Wolf, and with Allan Poe; I love it. I also like philosophy. And I discovered Burroughs: Junkie, Queer... Naked Lunch. He is surreal, very crazy, he had never read something so strong. I really enjoy reading, it is what helps me the most to prepare the characters.

Any method to enter each role?

From the outset I document myself, it's not that I have a methodology. I'm very young and I'm still trying things. I try to justify what leads the character to a certain behavior, what his values are.

In 'Everybody Knows' you coincided with Darín, Bardem, Penélope Cruz... Who impressed you the most? Do you remember any advice?

It was a luxury, everyone impressed me, especially Penelope. I was very young, I would have gotten more out of it today, I would ask them everything! They are absolute references. They surprised me a lot, they are such close people, super humble and good companions.

Who do you especially admire?

In addition to Brad Pitt, who is gorgeous, I would like to work with so many people... Like Anya Taylor-Joy, her gaze fascinates me. For me, the fact that a person doesn't need to tell me anything to talk to me in depth... she kills me. She is one of those people. I admire her a lot. Also Florence Pugh, I think she's amazing, I love her.

The best and worst of your job?

It has a thousand good things, really. The people I've met, getting into other people's minds, what I learn from each character, it's incredible, seeing new places, feeling so many things, traveling... Everything! Worst? Perhaps the demands that one places on oneself in this work must be controlled.

And the external one? The critics?

I don't pay much attention. There are comments that can cause me unnecessary harm and I prefer to focus on what the people close to me think and not on those who don't know me.

Have you experienced any extra pressure for being a woman? Harassment situations?

Yes, man, it has happened to me. It happens to all of us. That has never stopped happening. I don't feel like going into the subject, but you have to be alert and stop your feet from time to time.

What do you like and dislike about yourself?

I consider myself quite resilient. As for changing, I am in the process of modifying so many things... For example, overthinking and overthinking things. Searching for the reason for everything kills me.

He has stated that his mental health is a priority. Have you experienced any crisis?

It is something essential for me. Like everyone else, I have gone through my own processes in which I have been bad and I also see people I love who cannot afford therapy. I am who I am thanks to her and I still have a long way to go. It seems basic to me to be able to talk to an expert just like you take an ibuprofen if you have a headache.

Your generation is especially affected by these problems.

Is a delicate topic. I don't think it's something new or that we have thin skin, perhaps it's just that it's becoming more widely known now and that factors like social media make one feel worse about themselves.

Do you follow the news? What would you change?

I can't watch the news much, it affects me too much. If I had the power, I would try to make human beings behave as such, that there are not so many differences, that in short, we all go to the bathroom.
