Barcelona already has financing to build the new Camp Nou

FC Barcelona announced this Monday that it has signed the definitive agreement with the investors that will finance the construction of the new Spotify Camp Nou and the rest of the Espai Barça. As 'La Vanguardia' announced, there will be 1,450 million put up by investors brought together by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. 900 of those will be for the new home of Barça.

The financing will be made in sections of 5, 7, 9, 20 and 24 years with a flexible structure by the "20 financial institutions of international prestige", according to the club's official statement. Barcelona, which received a BBB rating from investors, will have to repay the loan within a maximum period of 25 years.

Of course, the Blaugrana entity will have a deficiency until the new stadium is fully completed in the summer of 2026. Of the money obtained, Barcelona must allocate the first 200 to return the bridge loan that Goldman Sachs provided shortly after Joan landed Laporta to the presidency of the club.

It was the assembly of delegates on October 23, 2021 that gave permission to the board of directors to seek financing for the construction of the Espai Barça, which includes the new stadium, the future Palau Blaugrana and the ordering of the surroundings of the area of Les Cortes. Then, two months later, there was a telematic referendum in which the partners also supported the initiative.

Subsequently, after more than a year of negotiations, the board of directors approved the master lines of the agreement on March 30, although the club gave itself another month of margin to try to improve conditions as much as possible.

It must be remembered that Barça always insisted on putting the future income that will be obtained when the new stadium is already operating at full capacity as the only guarantees for investors. The calculation is that 247 million are entered every year. The statement insists on pointing out that there are no "equity guarantees" nor is the stadium mortgaged.

The Turkish construction company Limak will be in charge of the works. This summer the cranes will arrive at the site. And Barça's first team will play the entire coming season, 2023-24 -starting now with the Joan Gamper trophy-, and the initial part of 24-25 (until November, according to Limak's guarantees), at the Lluís Olympic Stadium Companys in Montjuïc.
