Badalona entities warn about the traumatic eviction of a family of three women

The Sant Roc Som Badalona Platform (Barcelonès Nord) has attracted attention for the eviction of a Pakistani family from their apartment on Alfonso XII street. Tahira and her two daughters, aged 16 and 14, are registered in the home, who are studying 1st year of ESO and 2nd year of Baccalaureate in a nearby center “with good academic results,” according to the entity. Her father is admitted to a hospital in Pakistan and cannot regularize the situation in Spain, so the court has ordered the eviction procedure for the three women.

According to what they say from the platform, the father of the two girls left for Pakistan in the middle of Covid due to his father's serious illness, who ended up dying. At that time, he was detected with Covid and was confined there, being admitted to a hospital, with sugar and liver problems. In this process, his Spanish NIE (Foreign Identity Number) expired, so his attempts to return to Spain were unsuccessful since he was also denied a visa. The man must also undergo dialysis as his illness worsens.

At this time, in the apartment, valued at around 45,000 euros, the family receives a visit from three individuals who promise them "rehousing", a promise that has been confirmed, so, from the platform, they understand that the social worker had submitted the request for an emergency table. A request that was denied because the husband does not have a valid NIE and therefore cannot benefit from the relocation project.

The husband has been removed from the registry, so the family unit is made up of the mother and the two daughters, so they could be relocated again by the emergency table. Tahira, meanwhile, moves on, alone with her two daughters. “They have learned the language and customs, they have integrated into the neighborhood's associative fabric and they are references for the women of the community,” she explains from the platform.

Faced with the threat of eviction, which Sant Roc Som Badalona considers “unjustifiable” since it would mean a “failure of our society,” they demand that the judicial force not expel “an honest family” that wants to sign a contract and live normally. , but that he must give up his home. “We cannot accept that they be returned to Pakistan when they are fully integrated in Catalonia,” they say, a situation that would lead the two young women to academic failure. On the other hand, her mother has refused to “play the trick” of divorcing her husband to regularize her situation.
