An evacuated building in Tetouan becomes a garbage dump inhabited by rats

The eviction of the squatter building at number 338 of the emblematic Bravo Murillo street continues to be a nightmare for the neighbors: it has now become a garbage dump inhabited by rats, reports Telemadrid.

A few weeks ago, this property, in which about 20 people have lived, was evicted by the police. After being practically empty, it has become a focus of insecurity and unhealthiness with a lot of garbage.

The neighbors report that at night they see many rats and the pigeons have returned to the property in search of food. This has become both a problem for businesses and residents of the area. Hence, they ask the council to act quickly. It is not far from the five skyscrapers that crown La Castellana, a symbol of modernity, and yet it represents an area of total poverty and abandonment.

The company that owns the premises intends to build another block, but needs the capital's City Council to grant it all the licenses and authorizations to demolish what remains of the building and build a new one. Meanwhile, the neighborhood demands that the City Council "act promptly" so that it is not occupied by homeless people again and another eviction process has to be initiated.
