Carlos Alcaraz qualified this afternoon for the semifinals of the Queen's London tournament by beating the Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 6-4 in 1 hour and 30 minutes. In the semifinal, the American Sebastian Korda awaits him, who in turn beat the fifth seed, the British Cameron Norrie 6-4, 7-6.
The match could not have started better for the Murcian tennis player, with a break on the service of an imprecise Dimitrov at the start, even committing a double fault in the first game of the match.
Alcaraz consolidated the break in the next one and although the Bulgarian made it 2-1, the Spaniard continued to serve firmly and with his third ace he reached 3-1. Dimitrov won his service in white, but Alcaraz responded by winning his, this time with a lot of suffering, because he raised three break points. Both kept their serve and Alcaraz took the set 6-4 in 41 minutes.
In the second set Dimitrov started better, very confident on serve. He won the first game, made the break in the second and consolidated it with a cane from Alcaraz to get 3-0, in the Murcian tennis player's first bump.
Alcaraz's reaction did not wait. He went to the champion,. He won her serve and made the break on the next volley into the net for the deciding point. He made it 3-3 with many difficulties and repeated the break again to win four games in a row.
The Bulgarian made the counterbreak and the game became 4-4, but in the next game he played very nervous and Alcaraz won it in white. He finished off the match in the next one.
On the other hand, a year after being eliminated in the Halle (Germany) tournament in the quarterfinals by Daniil Medvedev, the Spanish Roberto Bautista, 35 years old and 23rd in the ranking, took revenge and beat the Russian to place in the semifinals.
The tennis player from Castellón won 7-5 and 7-6 (3) after one hour and 53 minutes. Bautista is looking for his first win in 2023. He was an unsuccessful finalist in Adelaide and his last trophies were in Kitzbuhel and Doha in 2022.
