Sergio Rico's recovery continues to progress at a dropper pace. Last weekend the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper was transferred to the plant after practically a month in the Intensive Care Unit of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville. After his horse accident at the end of May, the goalkeeper has progressively evolved until leaving the UCI, and now it's time to follow more steps, as Alba Silva recounts.
The young journalist and wife of the soccer player has spoken again before the media after leaving the hospital. Accustomed to giving daily updates to reporters seeking more information on the state of Seville, Silva has detailed how her husband is after he broke his silence after the coma. Sergio thanked "each and every one of the people who have shown me and sent their love in these difficult days."
"Thank God he is feeling better every day and he can write himself, but hey, with patience", indicated Silva this morning. He has also revealed an important detail of the goalkeeper's recovery, and that is that Rico is unaware of a large part of the events that occurred after his accident, so he still needs an update. "He is obviously super grateful, but I'm telling you, he still doesn't know half of what happened," said his wife.
Silva has also investigated the evolution of its basic functions, such as speaking or writing. On the positive side, the player can now express himself coherently again through short messages and longer texts, like the one he posted on Instagram. The main unknown was speech, mainly after having spent a month intubated. However, Rico's wife has assured that this inconvenience is also already overcome.
"You can talk without a problem. At first it was more difficult for her but now she can speak perfectly ”, she told the Europa Press microphones, before thanking all the support shown in all corners. “To receive affection you have to give it. I understand that it's your job, so I was clear from the beginning that it doesn't cost anything, I have a lot to thank the people, the hospital, the doctors, my friends, my family and the people who have been there writing every day a message of love."
And affection is what Sergio Rico received, from his family to the world of football, once his unfortunate man was found out. The club where he grew up as a professional, Sevilla, dedicated their seventh Europa League to him and rounded it off by wearing shirts with his face in the run-up to the final played in Budapest. The team where he currently plays, Paris Saint-Germain, turned the end-of-season party into a tribute to his figure with a shirt with his name, spectacular tifos and goals dedicated in a symbolic way.
