The Basque Health Service (SVS) has activated the protocol for a possible case of Ebola after a 54-year-old woman was admitted to the Donostia University Hospital under "suspicion of a case of hemorrhagic fever, making its special resources available of high security and isolation".

The patient, a 54-year-old anthropologist, would have traveled less than a month ago to the Central African Republic. As health sources point out, she "is stable and awaiting the results that in the next few days confirm or not her condition."

According to the sources, the woman has been transferred to the High Biological Safety Unit of the hospital, intended for patients with serious infectious diseases.

The SVS would have implemented the device and the emergency protocol required in these cases in "less than 24 hours" in order to offer the best care, always guaranteeing "isolation and safety" of both the patient and the healthcare team that attend.
