An armed retired police officer has barricaded himself in his home in the Valencian town of Alzira where he killed his ex-wife and then took his own life. The man, about 70 years old, thus ended an episode that began at noon. The discovery of the bodies occurred after the police operation in which GOES units from Valencia participated.
According to various sources, the woman has gone to what was her home to collect some belongings and clothes. As reported by the victim's sister to the media, the 58-year-old woman entered the house with her son (the result of a previous relationship); once inside and while the woman was collecting her clothes and her son was waiting outside, the armed man dragged her to the garage of the chalet where she entrenched herself.
It is at that moment when shots were heard, according to eyewitnesses. Personnel from the Special Security Operations Groups (GOES) that are based in Valencia and have immediately left the Zapadores barracks have moved to the area, but the support of the Special Operations Group has also been requested, which comes from Guadalajara -probably by helicopter-.
The security forces had activated the negotiation protocol, at the same time that they have mobilized the special forces.
