A new social housing project is born in Tremp for people in residential exclusion

El Rogle is a pilot project that was presented this Tuesday in Tremp with the aim of responding to two housing needs that are becoming more and more evident in Pallars Jussà. On the one hand, to act against the increase in people who live in a situation of unwanted solitude due to a lack of references or a family network; and on the other, activate some of the empty and disused houses that currently exist in the region.

They have already begun work to adapt a building to Tremp that will house six floors; four for young unaccompanied migrants and two for people in a situation of unwanted loneliness.

Once the Tremp building is rehabilitated, it will offer room rentals and a shared community space. In this way, the aim is to facilitate access to decent housing and also promote the formula of co-housing as an alternative that has a positive impact on people's lives.

Maria Helena Vicente, coordinator of Alba Jussà, explained that at the same time, an appeal is being launched to acquire other properties in Tremp or in other towns in the region. The will, both of the property that is already being rehabilitated and of the one that is in the search process, is that they can have a small number of homes, but at the same time have community spaces, in which activities and services can also be hosted open in the municipality.

The beginning of the Rogle project arises from the cooperation between three entities from Pallares that intend to add their fields of specialization and work together for the project. The proposal is led by Alba Jussà, a cooperative of services to people located in Tremp. The other two organizations are Coop d'Era, a cooperative of architects based in Altron, Pallars Sobirà, and mOntanyanes, a local revitalization and development company in mountain areas, located in Rialp, also in Pallars Sobirà. In addition, the project has its own specific staff to carry out accompanying and monitoring tasks throughout the process.

Víctor Fuses, owner of the building, explained that he opted for this project since the flats had been vacant for months and because managing a building with six different tenants was complicated and he opted for this option to avoid possible problems. In addition, this project has an interesting social component. The Rogle has financing for three years, from the EU, with NextGeneraonEU funds.
