A minute of silence for Israel provokes the umpteenth brawl in the Madrid Assembly

The political tension in the Madrid Assembly is no longer exclusive to Thursdays - the usual day for parliamentary plenary sessions - nor to regional political affairs - a matter of friction between the opposition and President Isabel Díaz Ayuso. And in the case of this Monday, it was Vox's request for a minute of silence in rejection of the recent terrorist attack by Hamas against Israel this weekend that has strained the Board of Spokespersons.

Especially after Más Madrid has requested that the statement include "all civilian victims", resulting in a crossroads of statements for which the spokesperson for the ultranationalists, Rocío Monasterio, has criticized this formation and its leader, Mónica García, from "scum."

The scuffle took place at the press conference after the Meeting of Spokespersons when Monasterio described it as "disgusting" that the "left-wing scum" of Spain "justifies" the kidnapping of children or "cold-blooded murder." "It is a shame that when we asked for a minute of silence on Thursday for these victims, Ms. Mónica García refused," the Vox spokesperson launched.

The different groups have explained that there has been a "heated" discussion in the Board about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the latest escalation of violence. The president of the Chamber, Enrique Ossorio, has asked that they agree on its content - by whom it would be held - to give the green light to this Vox request.

Monasterio has charged, in addition to Mónica García, against Sumar deputies - without representation in the Madrid Assembly - who "do not want to condemn what has happened in Israel" and has questioned whether the Más Madrid spokesperson "seems okay." "Politicians of Mónica García's level, who are not capable of condemning this, should be out of politics," claimed the Vox leader.

Mónica García herself intervened a few minutes later and began by condemning the "terrible massacre" in Israel and Palestine due to the "attack by Hamas and the harsh retaliation by Israel." Once this rejection was noted, she criticized the "hypocrisy" of PP and Vox in condemning the attack by terrorists but "silenced and remained silent" in the face of the "attack by the Israeli army against Palestinian civilians."

The Más Madrid spokesperson understands that the right is arguing that Human Rights "exist only for one place" on the border when they belong to people and not countries. He has insisted on the rejection of the "apartheid" regime towards the Palestinians and has urged the International Community for Israel to comply with the claims of the United Nations Organization and to follow the following roadmap in the conflict: immediate ceasefire , recover the "path of peace" and self-determination of the Palestinian people.

When asked if they have refused to support the minute of silence as Vox maintains, she assured that "it will be done" and accused Monasterio of "twisting" his statements during the Meeting. "We do not understand why the rest of the civilian victims are not included. Why the children massacred in Palestine cannot be included in the minute of silence," she said.

For his part, the PSOE spokesperson, Juan Lobato, has focused on the importance of "not separating one millimeter" from the position of the Government of Spain and the European Union because it would be "clear irresponsibility." "It is a crossword puzzle of 200 letters and we only have one. Having the audacity to take a political position... does not respond to the responsibility of moments as complex as this," he added.

The socialists have supported the minute of silence proposed by Vox in condemnation of the Hamas terrorist attack, a rejection that Lobato has also shown in the press conference after the Meeting.

Finally, his PP counterpart, Carlos Díaz Pache, explained that the popular people have asked that the Assembly be illuminated with the colors of Israel to show their support as did the Royal Post Office, headquarters of the regional Executive.

In his turn to speak, he has defended Israel as a country "in freedom" and has criticized the "savage terrorist attacks" carried out by Hamas, against which Israelis have "defended themselves." Likewise, he has disfigured García for his "equidistance" which, in his eyes, leads to "equating victims and executioners."

Subsequently, Vox sent journalists an institutional statement condemning the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel that was not discussed at Monday's meeting.
