A man died on Thursday night in the Valencian town of Alfafar, at the level crossing where numerous fatal collisions have already been recorded. The victim was run over by a Cercanías train from Valencia to Gandia.
The train was stopped for 40 minutes. When the judicial authority allowed it, the train returned to circulation on its way to Gandía. Traffic was not interrupted, only one lane. And the travelers were transferred to another train.
The burying of the tracks as they pass through this town and through Sedaví is a historical claim of these towns. In fact, this past August, both municipalities of Alfafar and Sedaví signed an agreement with Adif to develop in the short term the necessary studies to eliminate the Alfafar level crossing.
The ultimate objective is to bury the tracks, works that, if done, would take several years to complete.
