A lot of cloud, hardly any rain

Much ado about nothing or, in this meteorological case, Much cloud, almost no rain, as can be seen in these images captured in Manlleu, in the Osona region, for Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

In the photographs we can see a spectacular stormy sky and some lightning and little rain, since only 5 liters per square meter ended up falling.

We understand by "cloud" a very large, thick and dark cloud, while the storm is a meteorological phenomenon associated with the vertical development of cloudiness accompanied by electrical discharges or lightning, as in this case, and, usually, with precipitation and gusts of wind intense on the surface.

In this case, we see the storm formed over the mountains and over the spring rapeseed field, which is synonymous with a yellow landscape, as we can see in the images, a contrast to the dark gray of the sky.

In the center of the storm we can contemplate the concentrated curtain of rain. This type of spectacular fibrous curtains that hang from the clouds are precipitation from which, in the end, little rain reaches the ground, since it evaporates before.
