In the last few hours, images of a nine-year-old girl receiving a batch of specific items for smokers, including a vaper or electronic cigarette, have spread like wildfire. All this for the celebration of her first communion, in a series of boxes whose final price exceeds 1,500 euros.
The TikTok recording shows the little girl opening several of these gifts to the positive reactions of those attending the event. In addition to the electronic cigarette, the minor develops an entire display of edible cartridges, of multiple flavors and colors; a box of mint candies to hide breath and an iPhone phone, whose value depending on the model is between 1,469 and 2,119 euros.
The networks have exploded due to the applause, cheers and jokes made about these gifts. An attitude that contrasts with the type of gifts made for the little girl. The attendees commented on the play in a humorous way, making comments of the type "Sell it, sell it", when they saw the huge number of cartridges for the vaporizer. Although the boxes also included gifts more appropriate for their age, such as pens and stuffed animals, the rest is completely out of the norm.
And it is that several of these aspects have been criticized, including the ovation for the hug between mother and daughter for the expensive phone. The inconvenience is directly directed against the people involved, most of them relatives and friends of the girl. The reason that all the complaints have in common is the incitement and normalization of the consumption of harmful substances such as tobacco and its derivatives, whether natural or electronic.
And it is that, unfortunately for parents and the elderly, the use of electronic cigarettes among the youngest is increasingly triggered. According to the Spanish Association Against Cancer in the Valencian Community, smoking among minors between the ages of 14 and 18 has increased by 25.5 points since 2014. Worrying figures that are even more affected by false information that they run about this products.
The biggest lie that is spread about vapers is that they are innocuous, harmless to the human body as they do not contain real tobacco. However, this has been proven false numerous times by multiple experts. Electronic cigarettes, between their batteries and filaments, contain toxic and carcinogenic elements that only worsen the health of those who consume them and perpetuate tobacco addiction.
