A girl was born this Monday morning on a Rodalies platform at Barcelona's Sants station, and both she and her mother are doing well.
It was "approximately at 10:30" when the mother began to feel bad, so some police officers accompanied her until the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM) could arrive, Mossos sources explained to Europa Press.
The girl, Maria del Carmen, has been taken to the hospital in good condition with her mother.
The first babies of 2024 were born around 00:00 and are Kyliam, in Vigo (Pontevedra), and Carla, in Salamanca. Specifically, Kyliam came into the world at the Álvaro Cunqueiro hospital at midnight and weighed 3,420 grams. He is the son of Fran Barreiro and Jenny Gallego, a couple of first-time parents from the Pontevedra municipality of Gondomar.
For her part, Carla was born at the Salamanca University Care Complex 26 seconds into the new year. As an anecdote, Carla's birth took place almost at the same time as the chimes, so, minutes later, the medical team ate the grapes with Canary Island time.
