A court sees the ANC campaign of strategic consumption as "disloyal and contrary to good faith"

The Commercial Court number 11 of Barcelona ruled yesterday that "the set of actions that make up the 'Consum strategic' campaign, launched and executed by" the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) "must be described as unfair and contrary to the good faith". In the same order dated yesterday, the court orders "the closure of the 'Consum estrategic' website".

The sentence details the request to the ANC to "cease carrying out any action" and "refrain from carrying it out in the future". An appeal can be lodged against the ruling.

The ruling refers to a campaign launched in 2018 by the ANC in which the consumption of products and services from companies that supported the independence process of Catalonia was recommended. The Foment employers considered that campaign as a way to promote a boycott of companies that did not support the independence of Catalonia.

What yesterday's ruling actually does is ratify the ruling of December 20, 2019, when the precautionary measures requested by Foment were partially upheld and ordered the closure of the website as well as the cessation of dissemination of the campaign.

The commercial court also ruled that the ANC must pay the costs of the process. An appeal can be filed against this ruling within a period of 20 days.
