A 78-year-old man dies in a fire at his house in Eivissa

A 78-year-old man died this morning in Eivissa as a result of a virulent fire at his home of which, for the moment, the causes are unknown. His wife managed to save her life because she was rescued by a neighbor, who immediately went to the house to try to help the family. He was able to get the woman out, but he couldn't help the man, who was in her bedroom.

The origin of the fire is unknown, which started at two in the morning, when a neighbor called 112 in Eivissa. Several fire crews went to the scene of the accident as the flames were very strong. Previously, agents of the Local Police appeared and tried to access the house through the door of the residence, but to rescue the man, they had to break the bedroom window.

The conditions of the fire, with great violence from the flames that were also advancing at high speed, prevented the agents from helping the man because there was also very dense smoke that made their tasks difficult. Finally, several fire crews appeared and immediately began to put out the fire. When they accessed the home, the man was already lifeless and they could only rescue his body.

Six firefighters came to the place in two trucks, several Local Police patrols, the Advanced Life Support (SVA) ambulance and the Civil Guard, which has taken charge of the investigation to clarify the reasons for the fire. The extinction work has lasted until 6 in the morning, which gives an idea of the violence of the fire.

The woman has been transferred to the Eivissa hospital, where she is recovering from the damage suffered. The investigation must determine from now on what could have caused such a violent fire, which has left the house completely uninhabitable.
