A 33-year-old hiker and resident of Sóller, died this Saturday in the Majorcan Sierra de la Tramuntana, in the Son Torrella area, after falling into a rocky area from about 40 meters high, the Mallorca Fire Brigade reported.
The event took place shortly before 9:30 a.m. when the mountaineer, who was accompanied by other colleagues, lost his balance and fell on a rocky area from a high altitude when he was crossing the Serra de Son Torrella, in the municipality of Fornalutx .
The tragic event was seen by his excursion companions, who notified the Emergency services, which started up.
The Mallorca fire brigade, from the Inca and Sóller parks, and the Civil Guard, who rescued the body, which has been transferred to the Son Sant Joan de Palma air base, went to the place.
