She was sleeping in a porch in the capital of Huelva on cardboard and blankets when she was brutally attacked by a 19-year-old young man who also dragged her along the sidewalk, leaving her seriously injured.
It was not until the next morning when the homeless woman, a well-known person in the city, was found "bloody" by a citizen who alerted the emergency services and the National Police.
It was the agents who proceeded to arrest the 19-year-old young man who allegedly attacked the homeless woman. The boy is accused of committing a hate crime under the modality known as aporophobia (hatred of the poor) as well as for the injuries he caused to the woman during the attack.
According to the Provincial Police Station in a press release, the victim was sleeping when he received several blows from his attacker and was then tracked down the sidewalk. As a result of the attack, the woman was found the next morning "completely bloody", as stated in the alert given by a citizen who found her on a public street.
The woman was transferred to the Juan Ramón Jiménez Hospital in the capital, where she was assisted, received treatment and discharged, remaining under the protection of relatives who took care of her and accompanied her to the police station to file the corresponding complaint for assault.
The hate crimes specialist group of the National Police took charge of the investigation, which was not complex at all, given that the victim and perpetrator knew each other.
The arrested person has been placed at the disposal of the Court of Guard, with the Delegate Prosecutor Specializing in Hate Crimes belonging to the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Huelva knowing everything that happened.
