7 wines made by winemakers and viticulturists that you need to know

Little is said about women in the world of wine. And the reality is that there are several wineries led by women that produce excellent quality bottles, made with a lot of enthusiasm and effort that are worth trying. Here we leave you some:

Ana Carazo was the creator of this project in 2011. It came from her background, as she belongs to a family of winegrowers and was promoted by the great Mariano García. The label tries to combine character and strength with the wolf and tenderness, elegance and balance with the grandmother, something that represents this project carried out in a traditional way. The aromas are dominated by forest fruits, spices and herbs, as well as touches of fine woods. Wide in the mouth.

Mireia makes this delicious, special white wine, especially for those palates that appreciate gentleness in the palate and a certain sweetness. It is also very versatile gastronomically. The nose is very floral with a dominance of white rose petals, lychees, grapes and sweet spices. In the mouth it perfectly combines freshness with the sweet side of the wine. Very perfumed finish.

Anne Cannan is the person who guards this fresh and elegant white wine. It is a blend with mastery of a well-understood Viognier with the dressing of Grenache and the touch of a pinch of Chenin Blanc. The vineyards sit on those precious slate soils of the priorat. It has not been aged in barrels but has rested on the lees. Its color is somewhat golden. The nose is very fruity, floral and with hints of sweet spices. The palate is enveloping, with good acidity and a slightly smoky finish.

Cristina Yagüe and María Falcón are the team of winegrowers and winemakers who shape this project. The grapes were recovered by them, in a 40-year-old vineyard in the area of Pedramogueira in Vilagarcia de Arousa. The wine is very elegant, fresh, citrus and mineral as a whole. Its months in a cocciopesto amphora give it complexity and volume in the mouth, without losing the Atlantic character that defines it.

This red wine is the first that Bárbara Palacios makes and its name is the fusion between her own and the Merlot grape, her favorite. It has spent 15 months of aging in barrels that give it aromatic complexity, but in the mouth it is absolutely fruity, with very juicy and fresh strawberry and raspberry in the mouth. It also has notes of cherry, red flowers, pepper, herbal and smoky touches.

This Moscato is a success by Adriana Ochoa thanks to a trip to Moscato d'Asti in Italy, where, trying this type of wine, she thought about making something similar in Navarra. She already had the right grape for it. It is a semi-sweet sparkling wine with fine bubbles, it is also fresh and has a low alcohol content. Citrus notes such as orange and flowers such as white roses stand out in its perfumed nose.

Carmen Casacuberta, together with her husband and currently collaborating on her daughter's project, is responsible for making this wine with a very Mediterranean profile. Maroon in color and well covered. Both on the nose and in the mouth, it concentrates a lot of fruit, especially cherry, plum and blackberries. It has hints of cocoa, balsamic and aromatic herbs. Its barrel aging gives it body and length in the mouth.
