A total of 23 of the 148 meteorological stations in Catalonia with more than 20 years of data have "equaled or exceeded their highest temperature in a month of April" between Tuesday 25 and Saturday 29 April.

The station of Lleida-Torre Ribera (Segrià) stands out, which has recorded the highest maximum in the month of April in more than 50 years of data with a temperature of 32.6 degrees, reports the Meteorological Service of Catalonia in a statement this sunday

In Catalonia, the last week of April has been "marked by an episode of extraordinarily high temperatures for the time in the Iberian Peninsula", with highs of more than 30 degrees at points in Terres de l'Ebre (Tarragona) and Ponent ( Lleida).

The night temperature "has also been quite high for the time", with some lows above 15 degrees in coastal and pre-coastal sectors, as well as in some inland sectors.

This is an "exceptionally high temperature episode" in April, although in recent decades there have been equally or warmer days in April, specifically between April 28 and 30, 2005 and April 7 to 10, 2011 .
