Gamescom 2023: Follow all the games and announcements of the Opening Night Live live

Gamescom, the most important video game fair in Europe and one of the most relevant internationally, returns today with a new edition. The event in Cologne (Germany) starts this afternoon with its already traditional opening ceremony, the Opening Night Live, which from 8:00 p.m. (peninsular time) will serve to see new advances of the titles that will arrive over the next months.

The presentation will last approximately two hours and, although its organizers have not specified how many games can be seen, it is already known that it will have the presence of long-awaited titles such as Alan Wake 2, Assassin's Creed Mirage or Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

Once again, the Canadian journalist and event producer Geoff Keighley is responsible for the event and tonight he will once again act as master of ceremonies. Keighley, who is also the organizer of The Game Awards gala, told the Video Games Chronicle a few days ago that this edition of Opening Night Live will be "less about announcing new projects" and more about updating "some of the games more important ones that will come out next year".

The event will be broadcast through the official channels of TheGameAwards: on YouTube (through the video that heads this news), Twitch and Twitter.

Although the presentation officially begins at 8:00 p.m., a pre-show will take place at 7:30 p.m. by journalist Kyle Bosman, which will already have some advances.

As always, many of the games that will be present are already known. This year titles such as Assassin's Creed Mirage will have a prominent presence, the new installment of the popular Ubisoft franchise that will hit stores on October 5; Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to the psychological thriller developed by Remedy Entertainment and which will go on sale on October 27; or Tekken 8, the new installment in the long-running series of fighting games from the Japanese Bandai Namco.

Other titles that have also confirmed their appearance are Black Myth Wukong, Call of Duty: MW3, Crimson Desert, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, Mortal Kombat 1 or Sonic Superstars.

Although the Opening Night Live event is the initial presentation, Gamescom 2023 is held in person from August 23 to 27, from Wednesday to Sunday, at the Koelnmesse convention center in Cologne.

Gamescom is one of the most important fairs in the world, not so much for its announcements, but for the number of people who visit it, since it is a commercial event open to the public. In 2022, the first edition that was held in person after the pandemic, had more than 256,000 visitors, according to figures from the organization itself.
