The Colombian cyclist Rigoberto Urán (EF Education-EasyPost), has harshly criticized the organization of the Tour of the Basque Country for the few mountain stages of this edition and the last-minute modification of two stages "for security reasons".
"This Basque Country is a little different from what we are used to because they always do stages up and this year everything goes down, what happened to the organization? Why did they do this shit all down?", he pointed out in an interview to the official television of the test before the start of the fourth stage.
"This is a very important country in cycling, with many fans... How do 'sons of bitches' put all the descents down? Why don't they Arrate up? This year the Basque Country is an atypical race, the Basques They shouldn't be happy, everything is down", he added.
Before starting the test, the organization announced that it was modifying the routes of the third and fifth stages for safety reasons, in an edition of Itzulia that does not have a great queen stage and that does not have a time trial in its stages either.
